Hi Scotty,
My 2010 Toyota Matrix (1.8L, FWD) with 173000 kms, has some oil leaks from the timing cover. I've been checking oil level every week and it seems not losing much oil. Car is still running very smoothly.
I did ask for a quote from Toyota and they said it's a 12 hours (>CAN$2000) job to fix the leak. My question are: If i don't fix it, would it cause to more issues? Is there other way to slow or stop the leakage?
Best regards,
Francis
It may be worth a shot to try putting AT-205 reseal in. As long as it's not ripped or torn, it rejuvenates rubber seals. It's only a temporary thing, once you drain the oil back out, you'll need to do it probably every other oil change. It only temporarily rejuvenates. Read the instructions that come on the box.
From the description it sounds like the leak is due to a leaking gasket, not a rubber seal. If that's the case AT-205 won't help.
I wasn't sure based on the description.
