Hello Scotty!
I hope you can help me. I have a 2010 VW Jetta manual with 109000 miles and I have dealt with stalling and not cranking at least the last year or so. I am thinking it's the fuel injection, but want your expert opinion.
I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump module, spark plugs and had one of the injection coils cleaned and replaced the battery twice now in the last 2 years. The fuel pump and module were replaced less than 6 months ago. The car will be running fine and at stop lights cut off, no warning, only see a battery light; then when attempting to accelerate to get onto the highway or while on the highway I lose power and can't go faster-yikes!! Then when it stalls I mash the gas pedal and 1 minute after it takes off like I'm a Nascar driver.
I love the car and have only had positive experiences with the VW Jetta (I've had 2 now) Please tell me what you think I need to do.
Thank you in advance!
Deanna
Have you checked the alternator? you changed the battery once a year, which is not normal.
Hello, I have replaced the battery twice, but not in the same year, it's been a few years; partly because it was parked and not moving, I think the other battery died on me.
Your post says: replaced the battery twice now in the last 2 years. Anyway, test the alternator.
Put the scanner to it and see what codes it throws.
Thank you for that advice. The last two times I've taken it to the shop they only found a code for a rear brake/tire sensor and nothing else. I have even replaced the ignition coils and spark plugs recently. Is it normal for no codes to come up?
You didn't mention that you replaced the fuel filter. Have you tried that?
