Hey Scotty, my name is Dustin. I've been watching your videos on YouTube for quite a while now and I've gotten great advice from multiple of your videos. I was reaching out because I had a question. I have bought a 2011 Buick Regal a few months ago with about 122k miles. I had it taken in due to a engine noise and was told it was a 'camshaft sensor' further inspection indicated the timing chain, pistons etc. I was quoted $3900 for the repair. I paid $6500 for the vehicle. Is it worth fixing? Is this a common reoccurring issue with these buicks? please any advice would be grateful! Thank you.

Engine problems are pretty common with those, with some timing chain issues being reported.

However, what exactly does "pistons, etc." entail? The quoted price seems extremely high for replacing the timing chain on a 4-cylinder engine and is more in line with engine replacement. You did not say what kind of shop you took the car to but you might want to get another opinion, preferably from a good independent mechanic. Stay away from dealers and chains such as Pep Boys, Firestone, etc.
