2011 Dodge Caliber 123,000 miles, when I got off work today the engine light came on and on the way home it was struggling to change gears, I'm thinking transmission problem but what say you?

You need a high level scan to diagnose the problem. When was the last time you serviced the transmission with a fluid and filter change?
I recently got the car so I don't know when the last time was, took it in to get checked out today, waiting to hear back from them soon. I'll update as I find out more
