Hi Scotty, how you doing? I’ve been a fan since I was a kid. I think your YouTube videos helped me a lot during the pass. But now I have a problem with the car having a excessive crank before starting, after it starts the car runs perfectly fine. I recently got the car, it’s a 2011 Ford Escape v6 AWD and I even check for codes but nothing pops out. Hope to get a reply back from you! Have a great day!

Have you changed the fuel filter?

All gasoline engines need three things to run. Fuel, Air, and Spark.

Since it will eventually run, we can rule out spark.

That leaves two things, fuel and air.

If your air filter is dirty, the engine has to work extra hard to draw enough air through it to start.

Same goes for the fuel filter.

When it cranks long, it may be working to draw enough fuel/air mixture in to start.

now i'm not a mechanic but this advice is just that.
