Hi Scotty,
I have a 2011 Ford Escape with the 2.5L engine and auto transmission. It has about 172,000 km (about 110,000 miles). I've noticed that when accelerating the RPM will increase a couple hundred before upshifting. This only occurs when the engine is cold. When the engine warms up shifting is normal. Should I change the transmission fluid? When I check the dipstick the fluid is full and dark red. I read online that i can't change the filter because it's somewhere inside the transmission. I want to extend the life of the car as much as possible. Any help or advice would be great, thanks!

If you have never changed it, now would be a good time to drain and fill it. Just do not flush it.
