- My friend has a 2011 GMC Terrain ecotech. I can check the oil and it will be fine then a week later it’s nearly empty. No visible leakage anywhere. 160,000 miles. Automatic transmission, has a cat code. Can’t recall exact code but it was a catylitic code. I replaced the vvt solenoids a year ago, it was using oil before I did that.SpoilerOil consumption

oil consumption most likely caused the cat to go bad. worn out piston rings or pcv valve.
