Hi Scotty, I've got a 2011 Subaru Forester that I bought used in 2015. It now has about 145,000km on it.
I changed the transmission fluid a few months ago. I used the Subaru recommended oil. I checked the fluid level after the change (cold) and the level appeared to be within the cold range on the stick.
Recently I checked the level (hot) according to the manual's procedure. The level is about a 1/4" above the "hot" high level mark.
The transmission seems to have been running fine (maybe a little clunky at times since the change).
Is it worth trying to adjust the level (and risk taking too much out)? What's the easiest way to take a little bit out without dumping it all over the floor? Approximately how much do I need to remove?
Thx!
you could use a transfer pump down the dipstick tube
