[Solved] 2012 Cadillac SRX Timing Chain

Hi Scotty, on a frigid day here in Chicago my check engine light went on. The car ran fine and I went to work. When I left work the check engine light was off and the car was still running fine. Well I pulled the code using my Bluedriver that you recommended and it was the dreaded P0017 crankshaft position. This typically correlates to a timing chain issue which is common for these vehicles as they age (I'm just over 80,000mi). Then I cleared the code and it has not reappeared. I am very diligent about oil changes and checking the oil level between changes so I am going to assume this is a weather related transient and hope it doesn't come back. If it does, looks like it's time to make it someone else's problem 😆

Yeah when it gets called sometimes the sensors get bad data or wiring connectors are corroded and the cold makes them not send the data correctly
