2012 Ford F 150
Scotty, changed rotters, brakes, calipers, everything on truck. Yet once was done, shop noticed ABS, Brake and Traction light came on. Nobody, included the dealer could fix this . They claim I have to switch out the Computer Module, (3k) and remove brake lines (you can't get from Ford anymore, so.they want to rebuild then for only 1700).
I need your help here. Help
Why do they claim the brake lines have to come out, are they rotted out and leaking? Although a module problem is possible you'd want to have proper diagnostics performed rather than guesswork.
Stay away from the dealer and find a good independent shop (not a chain) that will take the time to properly analyze what's going on with a professional-grade scan tool.
Run down to you nearest autozone/advance/oreilly etc. parts store and get a free scan done, then post the codes+definitions here.
Don't need to, got them from a good friend who has the $ 3200 shop scanner: B1596, C116A, C1440. C1963. I had these codes before I walked in the dealers. Refused to take them, cloned they do thier own scanning. Same codes came through. Thank you so. Sorry for the multiple post, not intended. I am a nurse, need this car running, but can't afford 3k for a job they can't claim will "Help", I was like "What, this is what Ford certifies these days? " TYVVM
Right. This is why we ask for the codes in the posting instructions.
They claim I have to switch out the Computer Module, (3k)
it might be that. Or it might be as simple as a bad brake switch. It all comes down to how competent and trustworthy the mechanic is. Did he do all the trouble shooting...
These all sound like electronic problems. I don't understand why they want to replace brake lines.
