2012 Ford Focus Standard Transmission: Do i need to change the timing chain or the coolant?

Scotty,

My Focus is going on 160,000 miles.  It has never had a problem, and has been driven mostly on the highway.  I change the oil every 5000 miles, but I have not changed anything else besides tires and wipers. I still have the original clutch, and it is not slipping. Am I hurting my car by not doing more maintenance?  It still gets 40 miles per gallon on the highway.

You haven't changed the oil or air filters? Yikes.

Shocks are probably in rough shape.

Gearbox oil could probably use some freshening up.

Definitely the coolant.

Follow the maintenance schedule as described in your owner's manual.  For a 10 year old vehicle, I personally would change the coolant for fresh.  If you have been changing the oil regularly, the timing chain should be fine unless the maintenance schedule says otherwise.

It would not be a bad idea to change the transmission oil as well.
