I have a Nissan 2012 quest that is about 160k miles, I know the car converter is getting bad so I have emission error code, but las summer the car start having issue can not rev up in a up hill slope, so I need to flood it and wait for about 5-10 second when it start roll up and have some speed then it can rev up and pick up speed. It is quite dangerous so I stop driving it think about picking a new car, then new minivan are no longer in the 25k range, everything is above 42k now, I can’t afford it so thinking see what’s wrong and if it is worth to fix it. My kids love the minivan actually, so if possible don’t want to donate it.

I know the car converter is getting bad

How do you know that?

the car start having issue can not rev up in a up hill slope,

Very likely the transmsission (CVT) is failing. Note that transmission failure is by far the most common problem on those vehicles.

However you'll also want to check for excessive exhaust back pressure and run a full diagnostic scan.

it’s the dealership told me need a new cat converter when my check engine like is on.

That's nonsense, a check engine light means no such thing. Stay away from the dealer and find a good independent mechanic that will do some actual diagnosis.

you probably need a new catalytic converter. Have a good mechanic look at your car.

It’s the cat converter, not car converter, it’s the dealership told me need a new cat converter when my check engine like is on.
