Thinking of purchasing a 2013 Accord 2.4L 6-speed with 130k? What are common problems, and are these long-lasting and reliable? Want something RELIABLE and needing infrequent repairs- currently have a 2003 BMW 325CI automatic with 115k that is constantly in the shop. Considering Toyota/Lexus as well.
The engine in that Accord is the tried and true 2.4 Naturally Aspirated 4 cylinde which is known to be very reliable. The 6 speed manual is an excellent transmission you can't go wrong with.
I am researching the most common complaints from owners and the most prominent one is starter failure. In fact, one third of the major complaints are this specific issue alone, click here to read owner complaints about this topic.
Another issue is uncomfortable seats. Many will say this is a personal preference but the 2008-2017 years of the Honda Accord have lots of complaints about this which is unusual. Most people notice it after about 20 25 minutes of driving, not during the test drive.
Another issue was oil consumption with all engines having complaints: https://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Accord/2013/engine/excessive_oil_consumption.shtml

Accords are excellent vehicles overall but this is the first year so they do have some issues but they are generally noticed early on and in the long run the engine and transmission should be fine.
I think it is a good choice. Indestructible Honda manual transmission with legendary 4 cylinder Honda engine.
