My fiesta needs a new TCM, and it's on 6- 12 month backorder. I'm going crazy. I purchased a replacement off Amazon, but it wasn't compatible. I have to return it and wait 30 days to get my money back. Do you know of any other solution I can try to remedy this situation besides junking this clunker?
Unfortunately those have one of the worst automatic transmissions around, which wound up with Ford having to make settlement on a class action lawsuit. (Unfortunately the time limit for cashing in on that settlement has expired.) If no aftermarket TCM is compatible about all you can do is look for a good used one, then get rid of that thing once it can be driven. It's never really going to be right.

Yea. It's how these are.
There was a warranty extension on it, but it's Ford so it's not like they have parts.
The transmission control module incorporates the gear selector motors, these motors spin the shift drums that select the gears - it's common for these to just burn. Additionally, since this computer now has moving parts that produce heat and vibrations - the solder points just crack and it begins to lag and shift erratically.
Another great design from Ford.

C'mon why? just wait for the parts or try to find one elsewhere.
Other than dual clutch wearing out and TCM these are not that bad.
Also other than the TCM, how has the car been? how many miles does it have?
I've had a Ford Focus of that era and other than clutch replacements and a TCM replacement (all under warranty, during my ownership I only had issues with a clutch going out and the car upshifting, downshifting, leaping and jumping around) it's been a nice driving pretty fuel efficient car, I dumped it under the warranty has ended.
Do not forget about the timing belt on that 1.6L...
