2013 Honda Accord 2.4 liter loud cold start

I have a 2013 Honda Accord 2.4 liter engine. When I start the car after sitting for a few hours or overnight, the start up is very loud. After the vehicle is warm, it will start normally. I read online that a good possibility is the VCT going bad. Just wanted to see if that was the problem or if it could be the timing chain. Thanks
