Hello I own a 2013 Honda CR-V and just bought it about 2 months ago and it didn’t have a dip stick for the ATF(transmission) finally got a OEM one from Honda dealership but it’s bone dry absolutely no ATF but I drive it every day and it shifts and runs like all the other CR-V my wife and I tested before deciding to buy this one what should I do? mileage is 120,000
@justin
If you bought it from a used car dealer I´d take it back. If not, get some honda AFT fluid for it and don´t drive it until you get a chance to fill it.
Put transmission fluid in it and dont drive it without it
@ls1hoon54
Yeah I’m gonna head over to the Honda dealer to get the right ATF
So, If I were you, I would definitely stop driving it and add Honda ATF, since Hondas are very particular for the ATF.
@yaser
Thank you
Open the bottom drain of the transmission to see how much fluid you get out of that.
If there is none, refer to the manual to see how much you should add. you do not want to add too much.
@yaser
Ok will do thanks for the quick responses appreciate it very much!
Strange problem. Are you sure there is no ATF?
@yaser
I’m 100% sure there’s absolutely nothing
@yaser
that's super cringe, whoever sold you the car - i'd take it back! Lemon law in NYS applies to private party too, i'd read up on the lemon law where you live./. There's no way tranny isn't damage... You could replace the tranny if it's damaged, or negotiate with the dealer to have them pay for new one, to keep the sale..
@HelloCivicByeCavalier
Yes I couldn’t believe it when I checked and yes I’m going to the Honda dealer for the fluids and once I have that the vehicle is going straight back we’re I bought it! Thanks
@yaser
good luck man, make sure you have pictures of it, and a mechanic's opinion to vouch for you! I'd be so pissed. We bought a 94 chevy lumina in 2003, and i'll never forget the popcorn firework sound of the tranny blowing as i drove it down the NYS thruway, assuming it had no fluid, and went catastrophic...
@HelloCivicByeCavalier
Thank you very much & on a side note now the car has no heat before only passenger side now just cold air
The transmission can hold more fluid than we think. Even if the dip stick is dry, it still has enough fluid to lubricate your transmission otherwise it would have died already due to heat after a few kilometers of driving. I recommend to fill ATF right get it to its level. And check your manual for its capacity.
@multidanh
Ok thank you!
