Just started leaking gear oil through a weep  hole at  the bottom of the Flywheel/clutch housing. Obviously it has to be some kind of a seal, my question is can I do this possibly split the case without pulling the entire transmission and make this repair? Thank you in advance! By the way it's my first post I'm new here  been watching Scotty for years, so hello everyone my name is KangaRooster! Btw, it has 84,000 miles, the clutch seems to work fine ,doesn't seem wet or contaminated anyway, everything else on the car Ive had no issues! I just fixed a few recent codes but nothing showing right now, just both coolant temperature sensors! And I can confirm it is not leaking from the pivot shaft at the top of the transmission, I replaced that seal ,bearing, and breather! But I'm losing about a half a bottle of gear oil a week! Yes I am 100% positive it is gear oil! Pray

Welcome first time poster!

You might check the Mazda forums to see if there’s a known issue. Otherwise, I don’t have good news for you.  I suspect you’ll need to drop the transmission to get a correct diagnosis and complete the fix. Reasonable job for an experienced DIY’er, but probably take most of a weekend.

If you do, do your homework ahead to see what other jobs should be done at the same time (rear main seal, for example).

Follow up and let us know how it works out.

Thank you for the reply, I kind of expected that answer. Sigh.... Will absolutely do my homework first thanks again

In fact I've already purchased the rear main seal and the transmission seals! Looks like my weekend is planned for me
