2013 Mini Cooper S /R56 / N18 Engine
Hey Scotty! I just happened upon your channel on Youtube and I'm hooked. I wish I had heard of you before I bought my last car. 2013 Mini Cooper (specs above). I bought it with really low mileage 8,000KM for $20k 7 years ago. It is still relatively low in mileage (80,000KM) but its getting on in years (10 years old now).
I've been pretty meticulous in keeping the car running in top shape... change the oil and filter every 5,000KM, I've changed the plugs and coils last year and I just changed the ATF last week. The car has been running like a stopwatch and I've had zero issues with it... I'm just worried its a ticking timebomb that's going to give me serious problems down the road.
I've always been one of those people that believes, "the cheapest car to have is the car you already own" and I don't like wasting money on a new car if the car I have is perfectly fine, but I wanted to get old Scotty's opinion... should I get rid of this thing sooner or later?
Bonus question! If you say, "Dave, the car has been good to you and you've been good to the car... you should just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be ok." What would your recommendation on any further preventative maintenance? Spray AT-203 on all the bushings, boots and such?
Happy New Year, Sir. Keep up the good work.
oops.. I meant AT205.
I'm just worried its a ticking timebomb
A turbocharged GDI 4-cyl engine is a timebomb, yes. I would get rid of it.
This is not a reliable car.
