2013 Subaru Crosstrek. 160,000km. Don’t think differential fluid has ever been changed. Is it ok/safe to do so? Car drives fine.

Yes, and check your owner's manual maintenance section for differential oil change intervals.

Thanks! I am getting the differentials (front and rear) serviced tomorrow and was just worried about the mileage being too high that it could cause problems. I guess similar in a sense to if you never changed/serviced your transmission fluid with high mileage once you put fresh new fluid, it can slip, cause drivability issues, etc. I plan to change it more often afterwards.

Differentials and automatic transmissions are two different animals.  Changing the hypoid gear oil in your differentials can only make them work better and last longer.

Sounds good! I appreciate the info!

Then every 50,000 km going forward.
BTW, it’s an easy DIY service if you are motivated.
