Water Pump is know to fail on this car. I am at 80k miles. Should I take the initiative and change the water pump or should I wait until until there is a leak. I have just flushed the coolant.
Volkswagens aren't really known for their reliability, the car has a low mileage which is a good thing though. Sell it and buy a reliable car. If you are looking for a mid-sized SUV like the Tiguan, opt for a Honda CRV, or even a Toyota RAV4.
In regards to the water pump, it might be known to break but really take this into account - If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Scotty recently uploaded a video about the Mazda CX-9, he discussed that these cars have the potential flaw with the water pump breaking and eventually resulting in consequence of the engine suffering significant damage. Other cars might have less damage or even no damage at all. Your cars water pump for example might just have a leak when its going bad, and so when you realise this, might as well just replace it then.
Hope this helps!
