replaced old battery and alternator. battery light still on. checked alternator and its charging at 14.1 What gives?

I'd trust my digital multimeter ,more than the light on the dash. Take it to AutoZone or the like (who sold you the alternator?) and they'll do a alternator and battery test for free to confirm the situation.
