2014 Honda Insight - Brake Problems

Hello Scotty.  I got a 2014 Honda Insight (Basic) with 252,000 miles and running.  I bought it brand new.  I did 252,000+ driving for Uber / Lyft for 5 years.  I finally got a bit of a problem with it.  My brakes.  We just changed the Master Cylinder thinking this was the problem.  We got rid of all air (we also thought this could be the problem).  It did not fix it.  Every time i go over a bump on the street or a ditch my brakes paddle goes all the way down like I run out of brakes.  And it almost does run out of brakes.  Brake pads are fine, Master cylinder is brand new, we bled the lines out of air.... I'm running out of fixes.  Is this something electrical that only the dealer can fix??

Other wise, I get between 45-50 miles per gallon and everything runs well....well some minor glitches here and there....From Los Angeles, California Regular Unleaded is $3.89 a gallon.

Thanks,

Jorge

Odds are that your ABS modules got some air inside and you need to bleed it. Unless you have a higher level scan tool, you need to have someone do it.

I took it to my Honda dealer in Cerritos, CA. They got all the air out and got fixed. Well, until I went over a bump and....Back to square one. Now they tell me is VSA Modulator Assy. There is only ONE in the whole United States of America. And it is back east, somewhere. If the order it, they said, "it could take weeks, months or even years" for me to get it. It is "backordered." And the part alone is : $ 2,536.71 plus tax $ 2, 777.70 Plus Labor OVER $ 3,200.00.....What do you think
What can I do? Call Honda Japan?

I don't think it worth it. Try to find one from junkyard.

Are they sure it’s the VSA Modulator? You don’t want to be guessing with $3200..

I’d take @yaser ‘s advice and first check with a junkyard part or swap parts from a known good car first.
