Hi , I have 2014 Mazda CX 9 with 55000kms. I have changed all fluids at 40kms, I am worried about water pump and transfer case (PTU) . Should I change the coolant every 2 years or 30kms and transfer case oil  evey year of 20k KMS.  I live in in very hot place ie Qatar.

  • Pls suggest

Thanks

Check the owner's manual.

Owners manual does not recommend changing transmission or PTU fluids as they claim life time fluids.
Thanks

Change both of them every 100k kilometers should be fine.

Thanks

Given the on going drama with the PTU unit, I think replacing it's oil and replacing the engine coolant more frequently is also a good idea.

As far as your transmission (Aisin TF-80SC - another weak spot of this car), the manufacturer suggests an oil change interval of 75,000km, but I think 50,000 km would be way more reasonable. The Ford Cyclone engine your Mazda has is way bigger and more powerful then most engines this transmission was mated to so keeping the oil so it won't clog the filter (that's almost impossible to replace) is a smart idea.

If you keep the fluids clean it should be alright, 20k km seems too often to me but if you don't drive much and don't mind the expense - why not.
