2014 VW GLI chain stretch

2014 VW GLI (Sport Jetta) - 184k

My OBDELEVEN scanner says I have 4.81 degrees in engine live data pointing to beginning of chain stretch.

I’m a conservative driver, don’t push my car hard.

I know to do that job is 8 hrs labor and complete chain replacement kit on fcpeuro.com is $600 vs $900/$1000 at dealer.

How much time do I have before I need to perform this maintenance? Is that an ASAP thing?

My car idles like butter. Nice and quiet. I have already completed a carbon clean and replaced fuel injectors. So get 40 mpg on hywy and 25 mpg in city with Unitronic stage 1 tune.

pls advise.

thx

I would recommend calling the dealer and give them the vin # and find out if this is an interference engine. If it is I would move promptly with the repair....
