I have a 2015 Equinox with 80,000 miles. Last winter when it was cold my wife left for work and I noticed a stream of oil where the car had been sitting. I went to her workplace, which was less than a mile, and there was a puddle of oil under the car. Upon inspection, there was no oil showing on the dipstick. I had it towed to the dealer and they said the pcv valve had frozen, causing the rear main seal to blow. I researched this and saw that it is not all that uncommon in the 2.4l 4cyl. I asked them if there is a risk of it happening again and they said probably not. I don't believe that! I want to know if maybe i should have the intake removed and have it cleaned along with the pcv valve on a regular basis, say once a year, to prevent this from happening again. It was under warranty the first time but who knows when it might happen again.
I would sell it and get something more reliable.
