Scotty,
I have a 2015 Explorer with 100k miles. My steering wheel started squeaking when I turn either left or right.
The power steering pump is electric
any idea what it could be?

If it sounds like it is coming from the wheel itself, it is likely the clockspring. Probably made cheaply out of plastic, or rubber casing of wires chafing... Could be an issue with the steering pump, but you specified the sound as coming from the steering wheel so the clockspring would be my best guess.
