[Solved] 2015 Honda Accord 2dr sport starting issues

Hi Scott we have a 2015 Honda Accord 2dr sport with 128474 miles and when you push the start button it just clicks.

You have to push about 30 to 100 times before it will start. Have you seen this issue and is something I maybe able to repair or do I have to take to the dealer. and do you know what may be causing this issue.

Here is a video

Thank you

George

PS love your videos..

Have you tried hotwiring the starter itself to see if it's OK? Or, you could try hitting the starter with something like a 2x4 and if it then works the starter is at fault.

Ended having the starter replaced and it fixed the issue.

Great, thanks for letting us know!

Have you load-tested your battery and alternator?

Load tested battery and Alt are good still having same issue

Do a voltage drop test on the battery cables. Test the starter.

First things that comes to mind is the battery, alternator, starter.

When was the last time you changed the battery? How old is the battery?

Also, like @chucktobias suggested, if you could load test the alternator and the battery.

When you try to start it next time, open the hood. And have someone else try to start the car. See if you hear anything coming from the starter. If you hear some struggling, it could be the starter. If you hear nothing, it is probably something else. (I didn’t hear any struggling in the video, but this is simple to double check.)

Assuming the problem is the battery, that is DIY friendly.

If it is the alternator, it will take a little more elbow grease and tenacity (you’ll have to deal with belts and such), but it is a manageable job. I’m not a mechanic, and I was able to do it, DIY style. Difficulty could be hard or ok depending on location.

I haven’t messed with a starter, but it too looks like it is bolt off and on. Difficulty could be determined by location of starter as well.

If it isn’t any of those three, me thinks it could be some sort of relay. But good to rule out the first three before you delve deeper.

No didn't hear any struggling of the starter. I am not sure how old the battery is but I charged it over night

Even though the battery was all the way charged I tried to jump it with my other car but the same thing happens
just clicks like in the video above then after 50 to 70 push on the start button it will start. Then it runs great just the issue starting it.
Scotty can you give me any input on this issue are what it may be. Could be the push button start button?
