My 2016 4 Runner 4.0 litre sets code P2441 about every other month, this vehicle has 34,000 km
I have examined and cleaned both solenoids on the valve covers for the air injection system, also blew air (not high pressure) and examined the electric fender mounted air pump
The code sets on a hot restart and keeps coming back after I clear it, with no change in driveability but setting the light on and dis-abling cruise control
Toyotas answer is to replace both solenoids and the air pump at a cost of $2000 Seems Insane !
Any ideas ?
Unfortunately for you those air systems were garbage and they break all the time on those four liter engines I have seen it scores of times. On the other hand it runs okay you could ignore it or if you live in areas like North Dakota where they don't do any emissions inspecting there are kits you can get to just bypass the whole stupid system
