I'm looking to buy Honda Civic Rims for my 2016 LX Sedan, I want to upgrade to 17 or 18 inch rims. I want to know if this is a good Idea, yes it is based on personal preference but will this damage by engine or transmission. I currently have 16 inch factory steel rims.
Also I want some luxury rims, I need advise on some affordable rims to get for my Honda civic. Please give me some websites to check out where I can plug in my specific vehicle information. Thank You!
Will throw your speedometer off but can be recalibrated and it will put a bit more strain on the engine and a bit ride change (variables like amount of change in unsprung weight).. But no, not a bad idea if that's what you want. I'd go to Civic forums for info on decent economical rims as the most experience will be there... and there's a lot ; )
Realise that messing with rim sizes may make your speedometer, ABS & ESC work incorrectly. It may also cause premature wear of your front end & suspension components. Your owner’s manual may also have something to say about it.
If you had to though, I’d look at buying used rims of the higher variants of the Civic which will fit your car. Atleast the quality aspect of the factory rims should be covered rather than you buying some Chinese knock offs & risk your rims cracking.
