2016 honda sport won’t go over 40mph

Greetings from Deer Park TX.

My wife has a 2016 Honda sport with that engine you hate.

She had a problem with it not wanting to go over 40mph. The rpm seem to not want to exceed 3k and bog down when it to 3k.

Got the car home and I can't get it to repeat the problem.  70k miles and no previous problems other than slow to start like battery is going out.

She did say the check engine light flashed but its no longer doing that either and is driving fine for now.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Since the CEL was flashing, it should have stored a code/s. Scan it & post the codes here.

Yes put the codes here now one of the main problems is if a catalytic converter clogs up that's exactly what it'll do the engine can only go so fast and no faster and it can take a while to heat up and do that that's the most common thing I see in a Honda. But being as new as it is there are so much computer software and feedback mechanisms it would make your head spin too bad you're in deer Park as I'm in Tennessee now I check them out free and I can figure it out with my fancy scan tool when I road test it and take a data video of all that information and when it acts up I'd be able to see what's going on so find a guy around you that can do that if the catalytic converter is not clogged up that can just be pressure tested an easy test
