2016 Mazda 3 everything was fine until 5 months ago

Just got my Mazda3 2016 2.0 104k miles. In march, everything was fine until 5 months ago. Every time when I go out of park or neutral and put it on drive, the car jerks and then car moves. If that makes any sense. My brother thinks it might need a transmission oil flush. I still have warranty on my engine and tranny up to 121k mi. Could it be something serious or not?

Check the engine & tranny mounts

Engine mounts are good. Idk about tranny. I would have to check the tranny mount Saturday.

is the ATF level full, warm in park on level ground?

I let it warm up before I go to work. It doesn’t have a dip stick for it. Only have one for the engine only.

then you'll have to check through the fill plug

I’ll have my brother check it out since I don’t have all the proper tools.

If you press the gas pedal, does the engine rev up before the car moves?

Yes it does and the car jerks.

Your transmission is slipping. Have them fix it under warranty.

Do I have to pay $150/hr at the dealership even though I’m having problems with the tranny?

Read the contractual terms of the warranty, on labor and/or diagnostic costs. On the other hand, if you know of a good independent shop that can do (and document) their diagnostic evaluation, pay to have that done, and take the documentation to the dealer. (Again, this begs the question of who or whom is providing this extended warranty).

The advantage is having a competent independent diagnosis the problem is the likelihood that a dealer will likely stall any real work until the warranty runs out. It's not as profitable as out-of-warranty work,
