2016 Mercedes Benz BRAKES

Greetings! I have a 2016 Mercedes Benz GLC300 (my first Benz), automatic, RWD, 87K miles driven, car purchased brand-new. After a few months I noticed that the front (& then the rear) brakes started making noise (grinding noises, front and rear). I would hear the noises daily when I would first start the car, then it would go away... then if I stopped/parked the car for more than a couple of minutes, it starts again. For the past 2 - 3 YEARS I would mention it to the Benz Dealerships in my area (as recently as last year) & they ALL told me it's "normal", you're "fine" & "when it's time for the brakes to be replaced , you'll see a message on your dashboard".  At 87,000 miles I have NEVER replaced any brakes, rotors, nothing. I have never gotten a message on my dashboard telling me to check/replace my brakes. The grinding noise is getting louder, the dealership wants +$100 to "diagnose" my brakes/tell me if I need new brakes. Is this normal? Is there a recall for brakes? Help!

It is actually normal for these. Just take it to another dealer or a trusted mechanic in the area. Depending on how hard you use your brakes they can last up to 100k miles. Some squealing is normal but grinding is not.

Thanks Cbjman 🙂
