2016 VW Passat, 63000 miles, automatic transmission

Hi everyone! Can you guys help me out please? I was wondering if I need to get a diagnosis for transmission or engine issues if my car jerks every once in a while when it's accelerating or decelerating around 20mph below 3000 rpm. It feels as if the car is breaking before changing speed.

Does it have a DSG transmission?

Unless it's a VR6, then the transmission should be a torque converter.

All I can find is that it's a 1.8T R-line and its automatic transmission.

Yeah, then it's just a regular torque converter automatic.

Theoretically could be a lot of stuff for my experience. Is Jenny the transmission starting to crap out? Volkswagen makes pretty crappy transmissions on those things so try to find a good transmission. Got to hook up his computer and road test and see what happens when it acts up on the transmission data

Do you recommend taking it to a local VW dealership to get the transmission diagnosed?

Scan for codes?

I don't have the scanning device that Mr. Kilmer recommends. I also live in an apartment so it's challenging to work on my car without the manager getting involved.

Any of the larger auto parts stores will scan it for free.  Do not take it to a dealer, they will try to rip you off.

Oh, I did not know that! Thank you so much!
