2017 Camry LE. Tried to start car after sitting in garage all night. It tries to crank, but seems like not getting gas and will not start. Tried several times and no good. Let car sit for 10 minutes and closed the door, depressed the brake and it started right up and runs fine, normal. This happened once before about 5 months ago, same exact scenario. This time took to mechanic and his portable diagnostic machine gave this code…P1604 Startability Malfunction. Going back to him today to put on better computer in his shop that hopefully gives the solution. The car has 83,000 flawless miles on it and I have been strict with the maintenance schedule. First time this happened to me I was standing on side of car reaching in and turning key with no success. But 10 minutes later got in car and pushed brake and it started. The second time it happened a couple days ago I know the door was open and I don’t honestly remember if I depressed the brake or not. After waiting 10 minutes I got in the car, depressed brake and it started up first try and has been normal since it happened this second time. Could not depressing the brake cause this code or is it just a coincidence? Either way what could be the problem? Others on YouTube who get the same code their car won’t start at all. But after 10 minutes sitting my car starts and runs normal. Thanks

If you have an automatic transmission, you usually have to step on the brake to start the car.  Best to read your owner's manual.
