2017 GMC Sierra Radio has a mind of its own

I have a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 work truck, rear wheel drive, 5.3L automatic, with 16,000 miles on it.  Bought the truck from a local GMC dealer in 2018 and it has been a nightmare.  I already had the rear axle rebuilt by the dealer, hoping that was going to be the end of the issues but I was wrong.  For the past year and a half I have been having issues of the radio just randomly shutting off and changing all of the presets.  It would turn off while driving down a straight road or sometimes while making a turn( didn't matter right or left).  For the first 3 dealer visits, they always claimed they could replicate the issue even if they had the truck for a week or more.

The 4th time the dealer replaced the radio in September 2020, and it worked fine for a couple of months but it didn't last.  Now it turns on and off like before but also when you turn the directional lights on.

It is going back to the dealer it goes, but I am just tired of dealing with this.  It almost seems I drive the dealer loaner car more than my own truck.  Should I take it a place that deals strictly with automotive electrical work?  Or keep on working with the dealer?  Replace the radio with an aftermarket?

Thanks

Pete.

After going through what you are experiencing, I would just trade it in for a different vehicle.  Electronics remains a weak point for GM.

Daywalker.  I have thought of that as well.  Its unfortunate as the 1994 GMC I had before just ran and ran and ran with only regular maintenance.  This 2017 has been a nightmare.

Realizing this is an old thread, I have the same problem with a 2017 Sierra.  I have taken it to the dealer over-and-over for the radio and finally I gave up after the warranty was over.  It still does stupid things and has never been fixed.

Paraphrasing here, but I agree with Scotty: 'How is GM supposed to build electric cars if they can't get a base option radio to work right?'

Don't use the radio = problem solved.

I do not need a radio to drive a car.
