2017 Kia Optima Oil Consumption

Hello all! I have a 2017 Kia optima 2.4 L GDI that i purchased new ( I know what a shame.. a Kia). I have always been religious about oil changes and have gotten it every 5k miles. My last oil change was in December of 2021 and about 2 weeks ago I noticed every time i make a hard turn the oil light comes on my dash. I check the dipstick and nothing is on it. i did not even travel more than 3k miles and almost all my oil was gone. There are no engine oil leaks that I am seeing on my parking spot and my car is at 38k miles and am the first and only owner.

Tell me why I go to the Kia dealer to do an oil consumption test and they tell me because I was so low on oil and i had filled it up to the top they could not proceed with the consumption test because it is full of oil. They need to see that the oil level is below full to even start an oil consumption test and at that point they would have to drain the current oil from the engine and put new oil in and fill it up and seal the engine for the consumption test.

Its true what Scotty says about dealors that they are a terrible place to go to and always avoid going to them whenever I can. I just hope everything will be covered by the Kia 100k mile/ 10 year warranty if my engine is burning oil.

Beware of dealors Scotty was not joking about them!!!

Not a question just beware of Kias and dealerships in general everyone!!

Sorry to hear that you learned the hard way Kia is junk. They will try and find a way not to honor the warranty.

Just be ready to fight them when it comes to honoring the warranty. This so-called 100k mile/10 year warranty is just a marketing term from Kia/Hyundai in my opinion.
