Hey scotty I have a 2017 Lexus is350 f sport with 27K miles, purchased it used at a Lexus dealership with the L certified warranty. My question is under the hood there's a loud ticking sound I can hear even inside the car when I roll down my window. I asked the dealership and they said its normal, what do you think?
The dealer is lying, as usual.
The dealership response will definitely be "it's normal" when 99 percent of times it's not normal. The least you can do in my opinion is if you have a trusted independent mechanic have them check it for you and then demand that the dealership fix it under the warranty (hoping you've read the fine prints of it). As for cause of the noise it would be really helpful if you can post a video recording of the sound and also explain if it happens during certain situations such as certain speeds, when braking, etc.

Some ticking is normal. For example some fuel injectors can be quite loud. But some ticking is bad. It takes an experienced ear, and proper troubleshooting to know the difference.
The dealership is probably lying.
