My mom recently bought a used 2017 Mazda6 with 24k miles do y’all think she made a good choice and will it last her a long time? She thinks she made a bad choice cause she wanted a infinity suv and a Dodge Charger but I think she made good choice and think it will out last those cars.
That is an excellent choice and cheaper than a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. The 2017 came with a naturally aspirated (NA) 2.5L Skyactiv-G inline-4 engine paired to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission - both have been pretty good so far (holding up well). Also, 2017 was the last model year before (in 2018) they introduced cylinder deactivation into the NA 2.5L as well as introduced turbo charged engines (2.5L turbo I4), which add more complexity and potential for issues later. But for 2017 model year, you don’t have to worry about any of that and that year would have been my pick too if I was in the market for a Mazda 6. Mazda’s reliability has improved over the years and right now in the Top 3 behind Toyota and Honda, so she should be happy with her purchase. Just be sure to stay on top of all the maintenance (especially engine oil and transmission fluid change intervals) and don’t drive the vehicle hard, so the vehicle can last as long as possible - 150,00-200,000 miles should be doable.
