2017 Toyota Camry SE 2.4 Downshifting concerns

Hi Scotty and team,

I bought a near perfect used Camry with 13k miles in 2020. Now at only 23K . (I work mostly from home) So far the car looks and drives amazing except for this one issue I’ve noticed more and more. It seems to now have a hard downward shift issue. When decelerating from about 40-20 mph ( presumably from 3-1 gear), I feel a noticeable downshift that almost feels like applying the breaks and the car seems to slow down somewhat. (btw, I NEVER use the paddles)  I thought these models didn’t have the trans issue, instead the 2018 8-speeds did? Some website online said to have the software checked and updated? Easy as that or no? Scotty goes on and on about these Camry's and a no brainier 300K for most. I'm very concerned.

Did you mean to type 2.5L engine?

Well yes, ask your dealer if your vehicle is due for any software upgrades.

It would also be a good time to ask them about the duration of your powertrain warranty and if the transmission is included as part of it.

Also, check the condition of your ATF - https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/qa/atf/
