Well Scotty I tried to tell my Godson what a Master Mechanic thinks about the Chevy Cruze with the little inline 4 engine. The cruise has 108,000 miles on it he purchased it used for 14,000 but bought a 45-month powertrain warranty also. He drove it a total of 130 mi from the dealership and now notices that it is about a quart low of oil. He told me he checked the oil at the dealership and it was full and clean. Should the powertrain warranty pay for the little lawn mower engine burning up all the oil?
Did he wait a little while for oil to drain from the top of the engine into the pan before checking?
Read the terms of the warranty to see if it covers excessive oil burning. The warranty company will likely try to weasel out of repairing anything short of the engine self-destructing, and they'd probably try to get out of that as well.
Do the compression tests on all cylinders.
Can he return it for a full refund?
$14,000 should get him some good condition Corollas & Civics, albeit older, but better than the Cruze..
