I have a 2018 civic ex 2.0 liter with 38000 miles on it. I purchased it new. I've always noticed that on low RPMs there is what I would call a judder or lag. It is almost exclusively when I'm in stop and go traffic, and going accelerator to brake. Almost as if the transmission can't keep up with the fluctuation. I recently paid it off so I've started to wonder if I should trade it in for something else in the same range as the trade value. Was hoping to keep it for a long time, but the transmission just seems off to me. I've searched a forums and a lot of people say it's "normal". I'm planning to take it to the dealer, but I have a feeling they'll just say they don't notice it or tell me it's normal. Any suggestions?
If it's still under warranty (38000 miles) the dealer should diagnose it and fix it under warranty. If not, find an independent mechanic to scan it for codes and find the problem(s).
Know this is really delayed but took it to Honda dealer and the tech did say he felt what I felt. There are no codes and they are saying a fluid flush will fix it. Already did a drain and fill myself but didn’t tell them since I wasn’t sure if that would kill the warranty. He said a second flush could be needed too. He said besides that he wasn’t sure what next steps would be. It is under warranty but they said if something was inherently wrong with tranny it would have a code.
