I purchased (New) a 2018 Chevy Equinox Turbo Diesel. I’ve got 17625 miles on it to date. I haven’t had any issues with it and I’m wondering why Chevy discontinued the model in 2019. I get amazing mileage 35 city/44 highway. I change the oil & filter earlier than required. Can I look forward to years of maintenance free driving or is trouble around the corner. Thanks!

If you don't maintain it then it then it definetly "s trouble around the corner."

I would suggest using your owners manual to keep track of maintenance intervals.

Even the most reliable car would fall apart earlier than expected because of bad maintenance.

A turbo-diesel Chevy is definetly not one of those, this one would fall apart immediatly.

That is why I have linked the owners manual. Hope you enjoy reading the service intervals.

I don't know why they disontinued it but the engine is made by the German company Opel and 2018 was actually the first year they used it in this model but hey if it makes them a profit this is classic GM they will do whatever they can. They seem to be selling a whole lot of them.

If you meant whether you could get a trouble free ownership experience from this car, time will tell. But I can almost guarantee it will fall apart with age but you still have life left in it 17k miles is nothing for any car really but you need to MAINTAIN it to last.

'Can I look forward to years of maintenance free driving'

You can look forward of maintenance free sitting. Every vehicle needs to be maintained. Take a look at service manual to see what maintenance you can expect.

There is a site with tips for diesel engines (Click there).

Good luck!

What do you mean maintenance free? All cars need maintenance, or they break down.
