I have a 2018 Mazda 3 hatchback grand touring 6 speed manual, 2.5L skyactive engine. 32K miles.
I purchased the car with 8k miles back in mid 2022. I averaged about 35mpg on the car back then. I am now averaging 27mpg. I replaced the air filter and religiously change the oil and filter every 5k miles. All my tires are at the proper pressures.
My mechanic recommended I get an induction cleaning job, but I've heard these are a rip off. Do you have any suggestions? How would I know if the induction job is necessary?
Are there any other potential causes for decreased fuel economy on these Mazda 3s?
Thanks.
That's odd. You only have 32,000 mi on it. I would try and induction cleaner cuz you might have got some gas at clogged stuff up. Pray it's that because if not and if it runs perfectly fine. A lot of times you gas mileage is based on your driving habits and if you do a lot more in town driving your gas mileage will go down considerably if the car runs perfectly normal
Thank you for the response. I use it as a daily driver so my route and habits haven't changed. I'll give the induction cleaning a try.
