2018 ram 1500

I was looking a 2 different Ram 1500 one with the pentastar v6 and one with the 5.7 hemi and I was wondering which would be the better option in terms of reliability. Also what would you say is “too many miles” for ones of these trucks?

hmmm a cursed pentastar or a ticking hemi. I'd say neither. 1 mile is too much for a Fiat product.

Stay away if you value your money. I have a piston from a junkyard Dodge Journey with that exact same engine. The heads blew because they designed them too cheaply. It's a Stellantis product. Fiat bit the dust shortly after they bought Chrysler, and Peugeot bought them both out. Scotty routinely calls them the 3 Stooges of auto manufacturing.

The later pentastars have been ok, but not great, and I would consider them mediocre overall, especially if they have been used hard.  Better gas mileage, though.

The 5.7 is a much better engine. Good reliability (except I wouldn’t recommend one with the mild hybrid system.). Lots of smooth power.  But the kicker is resale. Ram is no longer selling V8 trucks.  If they have problems with their turbo 6 “hurricane” engine (narrator voice:”they will”), then trucks with the hemi will be worth their weight in gold.
