So I'm having an issue. My 2018 Toyota Corolla LE that I bought brand new is making squeaking and clunking noises when i go over bumps at lower speeds. Toyota released a TSB about the issued in 2020 and it is apparently related to the lower control arm bushings. But the problem is it states its only up to 36,000 miles that they will cover the repairs. what do I do ? I'm extremely disappointed I bought a Toyota to never have these problems. It doesnt even have 50K miles yet.

You should replace the bushings, if you’re sure that that is the problem.

it shouldn’t be too expensive, I’d assume it’s a couple hungered bucks max.

Toyota is still generally super reliable, and bushings aren’t that big of a deal - although I’d expect them to take more accountability for their own mistakes (but Toyota generally doesn’t do that)

looking at new cars, with Ford’s engines cracking, Honda’s oil dilution problems and all kinds of different issues, Mazda3’s seem to get ranked bellow average on reliability, and HUGE transmission issues on Kia hybrids and engine issues on Hyundai-kia cars - some bushings don’t seem like a bit deal.

I have a corporate fleet Kia Niro, today the transmission slammed into gear so hard and so loud I though a fire cracker went off in my cabin - the car has ~53k miles. A transmission like that can be easily over $3,000 to overhaul and no one even would know if the transmission is what’s causing issues (motor generator? Belt driven starter? Hybrid mode switch clutch?)

compared to everyone else, Toyota is IMO still in the lead (am saying it as someone who generally isn’t a fan of Toyota cars) - everyone’s quality is going downhill but I’d take manufacturing defects in bushings over bad engines and terrible transmission any day of the weak.
