Hi guys. My dad and my brother bought 2019 Vw Tiguan without telling me. My question is how can get the most out of that car before it becomes a money pit? We drive it 10-12km a year. It’s still under warranty.

Follow the maintenance manual, and be diligent with the oil changes (engine oil and transmission fluid), and don’t drive it too hard .  Once the warranty expires, hopefully they get rid of it.  It’s just going to become a money pit as it ages.

Yup, as mentioned by @daywalker, get rid of it before the warranty expires especially if it’s got a DSG transmission. They are notorious for going out without warning & they cost a fortune to replace.

How do you know if it’s a dsf. It doesn’t say it on the shifter

Even if it isn't a DSG but a regular AISIN automatic they have problems either way. If its a 6 speed automatic, its a DSG. If its an 8 speed auto, its a traditional automatic(most likely made by AISIN). All US models have the 8 speed automatic.

Does it say in the owner’s manual? Or call up a VW dealer with your VIN number & they should be able to tell you. If it’s not a DSG, it may be a ZF 8 speed torque converter.

Drive it up until the 95k mark and get rid of it. Otherwise refer to all answers above.

Definitely sell it before 100k miles. You do not want to start having problems with the DSG trans.

All you can do is follow the maintenance schedule and hope for the best.
