When I release the emergency brake, about 50% of the time, I hear a popping noise from underneath the car. This has been happening since I bought the car about a year ago, and it only has 15K miles. I know this noise is not normal but what is it and should I be concerned? Thank you.

If it has a cable to the brake, I would try to get it lubricated. However I am not familiar with those electric types.
