2020 Lexus GS350 F Sport versus 2021 Lexus ES350 Luxury

2nd, follow-on car buying question.  Once again, I am replacing a 2010 GS350 with 170k miles.  I really enjoy the RWD and 6C engine of the GS350 and its reliability.  I have owned the car for 12 years, without any major problems. It probably could last another 5 years and 80k miles.

Nevertheless, I am debating between a very low mileage 2020 GS350 F Sport (discontinued in 2021) and a new 2021 ES 350 Luxury.  Plan to keep the car between 10 and 12 years.

Welcome other people’s thoughts as between the two cars, as the prices of the two cars are almost identical.

Also I am not concerned about resale value. As with my current car, I will just donate the car to a charity.

If you value sportiness over luxury, and want a touch of both, get the GS

If you value luxury over sportiness, and want to bathe in a premium lifestyle, get the ES.

What I mean is, get whichever one appeals to you most. You might want to snatch up a nice GS as its being discontinued. Last chance!!  The last time you would be able to get a new GS, and you liked it, so I assume you would enjoy the new one but you should give them both a test drive.

Test drive both and see which you like, because both are good vehicles.  The GS has been out since MY 2013 (so by now has matured) and is based on RWD platform vs. the FWD platform of the ES, so driving dynamics will be different.  The ES (which has only been out since MY 2019) will ride smoother and be less firm, but the GS will handle better on winding roads when you want to let loose every now and then, but it will ride more firm.  On the ES you have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while the GS never got that.  On a side note, I plan to get a GS350 Fsport myself to keep for the next 15 years and 250,000+ miles - I preferred that over the ES due to its uniqueness on the road (you see more ES than GS), it is RWD, and it’s overall driving characteristics (while still providing some comfort).
