Scotty, we just bought a new 2020 Toyota Corolla. Normal city driving. Factory recommends changing oil every 10,000 miles. Do you agree? Should we change it more often?

5k miles.

Can’t agree more! For city driving, I wouldn’t stretch the oil till 10,000 miles. Change it every 5,000 miles to preserve engine health in future.

I do the look-see test.  If it looks dirty I change it.  If not, close hood/bonnet and keep gong.

First, what engine, 1.8 litre or 2.0 litre? There is a big difference. 2.0 litre is Dynamic Force Engine, … it’s a pretty sophisticated newest design. If 2.0 litre, … I would ignore a 10,000 miles interval and cut it down to 6,000, … especially if you mainly do city travel.

Agree with Jimz. I'd recommend maintenance per the makers recommendations EXCEPT when you have reason to believe more frequent maintenance is needed.

4-6k miles. Don't listen to that garbage some say 15k miles the engine is going to get a ton of wear and you will have to get rid of the car early on and buy a new one that is why they say that. I would not do anything more than 6000 miles.

Assuming you're using full synthetic, I'd change it every 7,000 miles.

You better off change the Engine Oil and Filter every 5k Miles, if using Very High Quality Full Synthetic Oil & Filter
