Hey Scotty we got a 2020 volvo S60 with 48,000 miles and the transmission sometimes will shift rough and my dad blaming it on the manual shift mode which if the computer doesn't detect that you are not shifting gears it downshifts by it self. My advice is that he bought it used and already it is shifting roughly at that mileage. What can he do? Should he get rid of it and take to the junk yard and get a toyota corolla? Or have it diagnosed before wasting money on something expensive?

At that mileage the trans should be about due for a fluid and filter change, so you might try that first. Other than that it would take a transmission expert with a fancy scan tool to diagnose what's going on inside the transmission.
